After many denied promotions, an employee of the Nigerian Correctional Service, commonly known as the Nigerian Prison Service, allegedly committed suicide.
Newsmen say that Alfred Bassa, a graduate of microbiology from Nasarawa State University, drank a toxic poison on October 2, 2020, shortly after arrival at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The deceased, 28, was supposed to marry his fiancée in November 2020. He allegedly wrote promotional tests three times and passed them, but was allegedly refused promotion.
He took the drastic decision when a new group of officers was apparently promoted last week, and he was left out again.
