INEC Fire Outbreak: An Act Of Desperation – Ondo Deputy Gov. Ajayi

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, reported that the outbreak of fire at the headquarters of the State Independent National Electoral Commission was an act of desperation on the part of some persons.

The candidate for governor of the Zenith Labor Party, who spoke via his Media Aide, Allen Sowore, said that a probe panel had to be set up to uncover the cause of the mysterious blast.

Top Gist Portal had previously announced that the ICT portion of the commission had been destroyed by fire, in which 5141 card reader units had been burned and demolished for the October 10 governorship election.

Ajayi said, “More than 5,000 card readers were lost in a mysterious fire outbreak in Ondo’s INEC office less than 30 days before the election.”

“All the authorities concerned must begin a survey immediately. Nobody should tell us something about this. It’s just an act of despair.

In the meantime, INEC reported that the incident would not impact the election already scheduled, adding that the cause of the fire had yet to be identified.
