#ENDSARS Protest Meeting Between Davido and Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu.. Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known by his stage name, Davido, met with Police Inspector General Muhammadu Adamu on Monday over the ongoing protests against #EndSARS.
The protests are against common atrocities committed by police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) staff.
The FEM crooner had joined other demonstrators on the streets of Abuja earlier on Sunday morning as the demonstrations continued in parts of the country despite the announcement of the police unit ‘s dissolution.
Davido raised the need for proper preparation and psychological re-evaluation of members of the police unit with Mr Adamu in a 33-second video of the Monday meeting obtained by this newspaper on Monday afternoon.
Psychological testing and re-training of officers was highlighted by the new Police Act that they only signed even before the #EndSARS rally.
“What we are saying is that the ones that commit these offences, charge them and those that did not, still re-train them,” Davido said in a packed room with the police chief.
Since last week, when the # EndSARs protests started across Nigeria, at least three people have been killed by security operatives. Over a dozen Nigerian youths have reportedly been killed in the past by SARS officials.
In cities such as Abuja, Lagos and Osogbo, the # EndSARS protest has continued, though Nigerians in the diaspora have also joined the protest.
