#EndSARS: Naira Marley Ready To Lead Peaceful Protest
Famous Nigerian singer Naira Marley has declared on his Twitter page that he is set and ready to lead a protest against the country’s relentless brutality.
This follows a video of a young man who was targeted by SARS on the Internet. This provoked mixed reactions on social media, with Nigerians calling on the government to ban the operative squad.
Naira Marley has declared that the demonstration he will be leading will be a peaceful one without any breach of peace, but with the possibility of corruption, oppression, war and intimidation. He described it as a challenge to the peace of the country.
Protesting is never a disruption to harmony. Corruption, oppression, war and coercion are peace disruptions, nonviolent demonstrations, nonviolent revolutions.
“So on Tuesday, we got some SARS coming out with us. The ones that claim to only come out for big operations and not the dirty works on the road they are coming out to show support and to answer some questions, we also got some police officers and soldiers joining the protest.
“Don’t forget guys just in case you see any SARS or any forces there on Tuesday don’t start any fight. We are allowed to ask questions? But remember no fight, no vandalism. Peaceful protest. Thanks”. He added.
