Unknown gunmen reportedly killed a 50-year-old man identified as Ashiru Aliyu, in the village of Daulai, in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Top Gist Portal reports that several women were also reportedly abducted by gunmen on Monday morning, who also roasted some domestic animals and looted food during the attack.
According to the villagers, the gunmen arrived in the village at 1 a.m. and began firing sporadically, killing the victim in the process.
It was also learned that some of the villagers had to flee to the bush and surrounding villages to avoid being targeted by gunmen who were around 30 in number.
The spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, who confirmed Ashiru ‘s death, said he was unable to ascertain the number of women abducted during the assault.
Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, Secretary of State, said on Monday that the state invested more than N4.2 billion on infrastructure, logistics and protection allowances from June 2015 to August 2020 to counter banditry and other security problems in the state.
