Los Blancos played in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie at Manchester City on Friday, August 7.

City retain a 2-1 lead after the first leg of the Bernabeu, played in February before the coronavirus pandemic brought the game to a halt.

In all the competitions in 2020, Mariano made seven appearances for Real and scored in a 2-0 victory over Barcelona in early March, a result that helped Real become Spanish champions.
