The state government has approved reopening of state markets for daily activities with effect from Saturday, August 8, 2020, following a careful assessment of the situation and of the need to update trade at market level. Recall that during the Covid 19 pandemic, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor of the State of Akwa Ibom, guided the state’s partial market closure and regulation. Strict compliance was extended to the Directive.
His Excellency, Govenor has approved reopening of state markets for daily activities with effect from Saturday, August 8, 2020, following a careful assessment of the situation and of the need to update trade at market level.
Markets will however operate under the following conditions:
- Market authorities must ensure social distancing among both traders and buyers.
- All traders and buyers must wear face masks properly throughout their period of stay in the market.
- Hand washing equipment must be provided at all entry and exit points of the market.
The AKSG/NCDC/WHO COVID-19 guidelines and protocols urges market authorities to comply with the new development.
Take Notice that failure to strictly comply with the Covid-19 guidelines and protocols, will attract dire sanctions, including the closure of the defaulting market, as monitoring teams will be on patrol for enforcement.
