The FCT Police Command rescued some of the victims who had been abducted by gunmen early Thursday in Tungan Maje, a village bordering Abuja and Niger.
This was confirmed by a statement made available to Top Gist Portal by DSP Anjuguri Manzah, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command.
The police reported that five of the ten victims had been rescued after a violent gunfight with the hoodlums, who were also heavily armed.
Manzah added that attempts have been made to save the remaining five victims who are still with the hoodlums who have fled to Niger through a nearby forest surrounded by rocky terrain.
However, it has assured members of the public that the safety of life and property remains at the center of its police mandate and will continue to introduce new strategies that will make the security of the Federal Capital Territory optimal.
The statement reads as follows
